Casing centralizer is a device installed on the casing string to center the casing string in the wellbore. It is an important tool in cementing operations. It is divided into two main types: rigid centralizer and elastic centralizer. Rigid centralizer is mainly made of cast steel material, has high rigidity, can effectively centralize the casing, but may cause certain damage to the wellbore wall. In vertical wells, if the casing needs to be rotated to improve the displacement efficiency, rigid centralizer is a better choice. However, in inclined wells and horizontal wells, if heavy casing strings need to be supported, rigid centralizer is the only choice. Elastic centralizer, mainly made of spring steel, has a large deformation degree and a large expansion diameter, which can adapt to different degrees of wellbore expansion. The maximum outer diameter of the elastic centralizer is small in the initial state, which reduces the risk of getting stuck and encountering resistance when going down to the well. The elastic centralizer has different opening and closing degrees, which can adapt to wellbores of different diameters, ensuring that the cement bonding between the casing and the wellbore wall is firm, thereby improving the cementing quality. In addition, casing centralizers also include swirl spring centralizers, which are special centralizers that make the bow-shaped spring sheets spiral or weld blades with a certain angle in the spring centralizer to promote the cement slurry to form a swirl, which helps to improve the cementing quality.
